Brief introduction of Ultraviolet phototube:
Ultraviolet phototube is a kind of ultraviolet detection tube with photoelectric effect. This kind of photocell uses cathode to generate photoemission, photoelectrons move towards the anode under the action of electric field, and ionization occurs due to collision with gas atoms in the tube during the course of ionization; new electrons and photoelectrons formed by the ionization process are both received by the anode, while positive ions are received by the cathode in the opposite direction. Therefore, the photocurrent in the anode circuit is several times larger than that in the vacuum phototube. Ultraviolet photocells with metal photovoltaic and gas multiplier effects can detect the ultraviolet radiation in the range of 185-300mm and generate photocurrent.
It is insensitive to radiation outside this spectral region, such as visible sunlight and indoor lighting sources. So it is not necessary to use visible light shield as other semiconductor devices, so it is more convenient to use.
Ultraviolet phototube can detect weak ultraviolet radiation. It can be used in boiler fuel oil, gas monitoring, fire alarm, power system for lightning protection monitoring of unattended transformer, etc.
